Move or Freeze

Is the statement true or false? Let it be known by moving, or by standing as still as a statue.

For every statement, such as '5 x 5 = 25', pupils show through moving or freezing whether they agree or disagree with the statement.

Used by 3,000+ teachers in the Netherlands and Belgium

How Move or Freeze works

  1. The teacher starts the exercise. All pupils go and stand behind their table.

  2. The pupils copy a continuous movement shown on the whiteboard. This continuous movement changes every few questions.

  3. In between, a statement appears on the whiteboard, such as '5 x 5 = 25'. For every statement, the pupils choose after the countdown whether the statement is 'true' or 'false'.

  4. If the pupil chooses 'true', the pupil carries on making the continuous movement. If the pupil chooses 'false', the pupil freezes.

  5. Once the correct answer has been given, the pupils carry on with the continuous movement and the next statement appears on the whiteboard.
